aBi - Agricultural Business Initiative

Overview

aBi Development aims to improve livelihoods and empower communities in Uganda to achieve sustainable development and resilience.

aBi is a social enterprise that channels development cooperation funding to agribusinesses and agricultural service providers in Uganda with the aim of building a strong and competitive agriculture sector. It was founded by the governments of Denmark and Uganda in 2010.

The support provided by the EU and Denmark helps 200,000 Ugandan farmers in improving climate resilience and productivity via matching grants and Business Development Services (BDS). The products and services of aBi Development include:

  1. Lines of credit
  2. Agribusiness Guarantee (AG)
  3. Business Development Services

aBi primarily works with private sector actors engaged in agribusiness, such as farmer organizations, small and medium enterprises (SME), financial institutions, and government bodies like regulators and research institutions. It also supports private sector commodity platforms.

This project offers direct, tailored assistance to eligible users upon request.
