EU-German Cambodia for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (EU-German CAPSAFE)

Overview

This project aims to assist Cambodia in harnessing its vast agricultural potential by addressing the sector’s key challenges, particularly those within the cashew nut and pepper industries.

 The key focus areas include:

  1. Institutional capacity development: Enhancing institutional capacities for improving the national systems on agri-food safety and climate-resilient agriculture, including decent work.
  2. Value chain performance improvement: Increasing the profitability of cashew and pepper value chains through climate-resilient and sustainable intensification practices, such as deforestation-free production.
  3. Private sector development: Increasing the capacities of agribusiness MSMEs, industry associations, and federations to add value in the pepper and cashew value chains.

Further activities of the project include:

  1. Support policies implementation – agri-food safety, cashew, and pepper policies.
  2. Build capacity of farmers in climate-resilient agriculture practices and quality infrastructure, enabling them to supply quality products to the market while respecting social and environmental standards.
  3. Build capacity of associations, federations, and SMEs to enable them to export processed cashew nuts and peppers to EU and ASEAN markets.
