Overview
The overall objective of the FFM+ programme is to contribute to poverty reduction and improved food security and nutrition by supporting the building of a fairer, safer and sustainable agri-food sector in member countries of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).
The key activities of the Fit For Market+ (FFM+) programme include:
- Strengthing the capacity of smallholders, farmer groups and horticultural micro, small and medium sized enterprizes (MSMEs) to access domestic, regional and international markets by complying with regulatory and market requirements in a sustainable framework;
- Ensuring these stakeholders have the business skills and tools to pursue and improve their operations through enhanced capacities to manage change and facilitate access to finance;
- Leveraging market opportunities resulting from COVID-19 and climate change disruptions, and monitoring conditions and requirements for market access and competitiveness;
- Enhancing the capacity of African, Carribean and Pacific (ACP) competent authorities to support the agri-food sector;
- Brokering technical innovation and research to generate the knowledge, skills and technologies needed to facilitate the transition of African, Carribean and Pacific (ACP) horticulture towards more sustainable food systems.
