Overview
The main objective of the project is to restore forests and tree-rich, fertile landscapes, promote sustainable forest management, and thereby improve the living standards of the local population.
The project provides various support measures to achieve national forest landscape restoration (FLR) targets in selected partner countries (Ethiopia, Madagascar, Togo, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon). Furthermore, it promotes legal timber trade in accordance with EU requirements in selected partner countries (Viet Nam, Laos, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon).
The project fosters key activities, including:
- Strengthening community participation in planning and implementing FLR measures
- Supporting governments and raising awareness among producers and local extension services on EU requirements, especially the EU Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
- Developing action plans for reforestation and promoting non-timber forest product value chains (e.g., honey, cocoa)
- Providing trainings on sustainable agricultural practices and agroforestry
