Global Partnership for Sustainable and Resilient Landscapes (PROGREEN)

Overview

The overall objective of the project is to preserve and develop ecosystem services to protect forests and landscapes. This is achieved through financial, technical, and knowledge support integrating environmental, economic and social priorities.

The Global Partnership for Sustainable and Resilient Landscapes - PROGREEN - is an “umbrella multi-donor trust fund” that was launched in 2019 with a focus on sustainable management and use of landscapes. The overall theory of change is based on conserving and improving ecosystem services to achieve sustainable and resilient production systems and the conservation of landscapes, while increasing the rights and livelihoods of indigenous peoples and local communities that are directly dependent on ecosystems. PROGREEN also has the ambition to reduce climate emissions and air pollution.

Projects in several of the implementing countries have taken into consideration local and national value chains. In Latin America and the Caribbean, PROGREEN is currently working on identifying governance and regulatory gaps and creating a roadmap for action on three value chains - coffee, cocoa, and palm oil - in three countries: Guatemala, Honduras, and Peru.
