Overview
The outcome of this project is to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in production countries to improve their social and environmental standards, implement better due diligence management, and prevent crowding-out by larger corporations.
GSC Support Fund is an impact support fund supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries that are linked to the supply chains of German and European companies. The focus is initially placed on India, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Indonesia in South- and Southeast Asia, and Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria in Sub-Saharan Africa. High growth sectors such as food and agritech, textile, green manufacturing, automotive and auto ancillaries, logistics, and renewables and climate take priority.
The GSC Support Fund is mandated to cater to the capital needs of thriving MSMEs that struggle to secure financing from traditional banks. Support options of the fund include:
- Flexible capital: The fund provides tailored credit solutions of typically $2M-$5M that preserve ownership while elevating ESG standards.
- Global market access: SMEs are connected to international buyers and export opportunities.
- Institutionalization support: Technical assistance is provided to meet EU/ German supply chain compliance requirements, improve governance frameworks, and learn through best operational practices.
