Overview
The overall objective of the project is to support the promotion and protection of human rights in Africa's Just Transition, with a particular focus on the role of transition minerals.
This project explores the role of responsible business conduct in contributing to a just transition through activities on relevant policy frameworks, documentation and access to remedy, as well as multi-stakeholder dialogue and cooperation. The project works in six workstreams which are implemented at country as well as regional level:
Country level (in Tanzania and Zimbabwe):
- Documenting human rights impacts associated with transition minerals business activities and policy analysis
- Supporting access to remedy for impacts associated with transition minerals business activities
- Building stakeholder capacity and conducting multi-stakeholder policy dialogues on responsible business conduct and the Just Transition
Regional level:
- Integrating human rights and responsible business conduct in a zonal case study, namely on the border region between DRC and Zambia
- Carrying out regional-level policy analysis, dialogues and advocacy on responsible business conduct and the Just Transition
- Integrating human rights and responsible business conduct in investment and value chains for the Just Transition
