Overview
NISCOPS aims to create partnerships that make palm oil production more sustainable and beneficial for all. This includes supporting smallholder farmers to adopt practices that enable them to live in balance with nature.
NISCOPS is a public private partnership programme co-led by IDH – The Sustainable Trade Initiative and Solidaridad, operating through partnerships with national and subnational governments, civil society, and the private sector.
Key activities include:
- Climate-Smart Agriculture: NISCOPS promotes sustainable farming practices that enhance productivity while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Multi-Stakeholder Platforms (MSPs): These platforms bring together smallholder farmers, local governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to discuss challenges and advocate for climate-smart agriculture and responsible land use.
- Policy Support: The initiative supports the development and implementation of conservation and development plans to protect and restore critical ecosystem values.
