Overview
The OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement in the Extractive Sector provides practical recommendations to mining, oil and gas companies on stakeholder engagement.
The Guidance provides companies with a framework to implement the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct. The Guidance is primarily intended for on-the-ground personnel in extractive sector enterprises who engage directly with communities and stakeholders, as well as, in larger firms, those responsible for stakeholder engagement activities.
It also includes recommendations for the executive management of extractive operations. While it does not cover artisanal or informal extractive activities, it provides guidance on engaging with artisanal and small-scale miners.
