Overview
The project aims to establish closer cooperation among key stakeholders in the Asian textile and clothing industry to improve production conditions and reduce the sector’s environmental impact.
Key activities of the project include:
- Enhancing the regional dialogue between relevant actors in the industry on environmentally friendly and socially equitable supply chains, e.g. through webinar and event formats like the 'Asian Dialogues'/ 'Moving the Needle' and the Asia Garment Hub, a digital knowledge platform offering target group-oriented information and knowledge products on all aspects of an environmentally friendly and socially equitable textile and clothing industry (e.g. this supplier's guide on key sustainability legislations)
- Incorporating the position of producers into the national discourse through the first inter-Asian network of manufacturers' associations 'Sustainable Textile of the Asian Region' (STAR) Network and the Sustainable Terms of Trade Initiative (STTI)
- Collaboration with international brands, global initiatives and local production facilities to foster environmentally friendly and resource-efficient production methods and improved working conditions
Although the project has come to an end, important resources and networks remain and can still be accessed or contacted.
