Promotion of investments in rural MSMCs / Agribusiness Facility for Africa (ABF)

Overview

The Agri-Business Facility for Africa (ABF) a pan-African knowledge and advisory hub. Its services help to foster the knowledge and skills of rural micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSME) operating in agricultural value chains, to unfold their potential as suppliers, investors, and employers, and to manage risks.

The ABF manages and provides knowledge, approaches, tools and networks in 3 areas:

  1. Skills for Agribusiness
  2. Competitive Matching Grant Fund
  3. South-South Exchange

As part of 1), the Agribusiness e-Academy is ABF’s online learning hub, equipping farmers, MSMEs and youth with proven agribusiness skills through free, high-quality online courses. The curriculum covers entrepreneurship, market access, agronomy, climate resilience, good agricultural practices and nutrition (in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Kiswahili).

To support human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) in partner countries, ABF has developed dedicated courses, including Compliance and Legal Watch for EU Regulations and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) Guide for MSMEs. All courses are self-paced and can be completed online or offline.

Beyond knowledge transfer, learners are supported to develop viable micro-business ideas. Graduates may access opportunities for direct funding, business tools and expert mentoring, and can connect with financial institutions and market actors to explore further investment options."
