Overview

The project aims to improve economic opportunities for target groups through a Market System Development (MSD) approach, promoting decent and green jobs through upskilling and enterprise development.

The overall goal for RECONOMY is to enable women and youth, particularly the most disadvantaged, to benefit from economic opportunities by increasing their income and taking up decent and green jobs, inclusively and sustainably. RECONOMY is using current knowledge and practices, while encouraging learning and sharing between countries, as well as between the two project regions. The programme accomplishes this by involving a variety of stakeholders, including public institutions, non-profit organisations, academia, and businesses. While doing so, it focuses on common issues that countries of both regions face as well as shared actors that may step up and support systemic improvements.

The programme aims to reach the following three outcomes:

  1. Private sector enterprises adopt improved/new business & technology services into their operations & boost their competitiveness
  2. Target groups increase their skills as well as access & use intermediation services & support systems to make informed decisions
  3. Private sector enterprises have better policy support to do business & increase their efficiency
