Overview
STITCH aims to improve conditions in the clothing industry, ensuring that all workers can work safely, receive fair wages, enjoy the freedom to organise, and collectively negotiate for better working conditions.
STITCH is a multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to improve the position and labour conditions of workers. Its interventions are for workers (capacity building, social dialogue, gender awareness), employers (capacity building, social dialogue, gender awareness), brands (purchasing practices, social dialogue) and governments from buying and producing countries (research, lobby and advocacy).
The work includes:
- Equipping unions and labour rights organisations with knowledge, skills, and tools to help amplify workers’ voices in the value chain.
- Encouraging brands to leverage their power to drive industry action and create space for workers to organise and actively shape HRDD.
- Guiding brands towards responsible purchasing practices to promote a more equitable buyer–supplier relationship that forms the foundation for better working conditions.
- Fostering meaningful engagement among all supply chain actors by creating space for joint work on solutions that place garment workers’ voices at the centre.
