Overview
The overall objective is to have national and regional financial sector institutions being more transparent and accountable and adhering to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria.
Fair Finance Asia (FFA) is a regional network of Asian CSOs (over 90 allied organisations) committed to ensuring that financial institutions' funding decisions in the region respect the social and environmental well-being of local communities. The national coalitions lead national financial sector influencing and advocacy initiatives that are amplified and coordinated at the FFA regional level. The expected impacts of the FFA programme are a reduction of the negative impact of national and cross-border bank investments in Asia on human rights, the environment and climate change, a promotion of more transparency and sustainability in investments and an increase of adequate financial services for pro-poor inclusive economic development. Example activities of the project are:
- FFA provides a platform for Asian CSOs to advocate for sustainable funding decisions of financial institutions
- FFA provides country-specific assessments of policies and practices of national financial institutions
- FFA organises online events on the topic of sustainability in the finance sector
