Description
AgreenFi aims to mitigate the high risks in lending to MSMEs in Sub-Saharan Africa and the EU Neighbourhood. It facilitates access to finance and/or makes borrowing money more affordable for small businesses operating in agriculture, located in rural areas.
The guarantee enables local financial institutions to provide affordable credit to small businesses and producers, supported by Proparco who provides operational support and advice to local banks, to increase their capacity to lend to MSMEs. As a result, farms and small businesses will gain easier access to business loans and other financial services. It will also help create or support a considerable number of jobs.
In addition, local banks and other financial institutions will be better able to measure risk, provide appropriate financial products to agricultural producers and small businesses in rural areas and implement environmental and social procedures.
