Description

The Choose Africa VC investment programme will finance young innovative (M)SMES across Africa directly and through Venture Capital (VC) fund investments. The programme addresses a lack of finance for new businesses in Africa. It de-risks investments at an early-stage, after which these become more attractive for private capital.
The objectives of Choose Africa VC include:
- contribution to (M)SME growth
- decent job creation
- increase quantity and quality of private investment in early-stage enterprises
- empowerment of women and young people
- creation of opportunities in fragile countries
Innovative tech-enabled African start-ups and their business models, as well as inherent VC investment approaches offer unique opportunities to:
- support companies with fast/exponential growth potential for job creation and economic development contribution
- enhance financing leverage snowball effect
- accelerate inclusive access to basic products and services for underserved population
- explore low-carbon alternative solutions
