An Intervention is a coherent set of activities and results, which constitutes an effective level for the operational follow-up and reporting by the European Commission.
The scope of an intervention corresponds in most cases to an action or a part of it, however, several actions, action components and or contracts can contribute to a single intervention when the coherence of the planned activities and results allows. The scale of an intervention and its level are determined in function of:
- The coherence of the planned activities and results; and
- The responsible entity (e.g. Delegation in charge).
The Intervention Cycle Methodology Guide (ICM) presents the needed competencies related to procedures and norms, but also to approaches, methodologies and tools which can ensure quality output at all phases of the intervention cycle.
Within the ICM, the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) is an analytical and management tool used by many aid agencies, international NGOs and partner governments. The LFA helps to analyse and organise information in a structured way.
