Community resilience in Venezuela

Coping with the crisis in rural and peri-urban areas

To alleviate the effects of the food crisis in Venezuela, INTPA supports the Red Cross to enhance the resilience of rural and peri-urban areas promoting health, food security, livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene, working closely with local leaders to ensure community participation.

The conference will describe the critical context in the country, including the implication the deteriorating economic situation, lack of basic services and food supplies, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the need for food security and livelihoods support to the vulnerable communities. This will be followed by the presentation of good practices of the INTPA and Red Cross interventions on which the programme builds on. Finally, an overview of the present intervention will take place, focusing on the implementing strategies, engagement of target communities and challenges.
