Description
The webinar will bring together relevant stakeholders with an interest in the remittances industry from both Europe and Africa, specifically regulators and policymakers, private sector players, including banks and RSPs, the diaspora and international organisations.
Two expert-led panels will aim to take stock of the past years in achieving a reduction of remittance costs between EU-AU as per global commitments. The panels will:
- showcase examples of EU-Africa corridors where such reduction has been achieved
- highlight the opportunities and challenges in leveraging the reduction of costs to build the resilience of beneficiaries
- explore the use of digital channels including mobile-money, and to explore further actions and priorities beyond the reduction of costs to, amongst other things, leverage remittances for development.
The webinar is organised by the European Commission and the African Institute for Remittances (AIR) of the African Union, within the framework of the AU-EU Continent-to-Continent Migration and Mobility Dialogue (C2CMMD), which is implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) within the wider EU-funded Migration and Mobility Dialogue (MMD).
