Description
European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, will take part in the EU’s side event at the UN High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development: The SDGs as the compass for recovering after the pandemic and building forward better. The virtual event will be on 14 July 2021, 19:00-20:30 (CET). The event is organised by the European Commission and the Government of Slovenia.
The EU, partner countries, the United Nations, civil society, the private sector and academia will explore success stories, challenges and lessons learned. They will consider ways to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the context of COVID-19 recovery.
Relaunching the economy does not mean going back to the status quo before the crisis, but taking forward the agenda of sustainability and resilience. So, the participants will also discuss the need to shift to a new growth model. This entails reshaping the relationship between the economy, the environment, and people’s needs.
