Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission and Jutta Urpilainen, Commissioner for International Partnerships, met today with the Development Ministers of the 27 EU Member States.

This informal exchange of views was organised at an important time as the Commission and the European External Action Service prepare for a new comprehensive Africa Strategy to enable both continents to tackle global challenges and achieve common goals. This informal consultation is part of a broader process of consulting stakeholders, including partner countries in Africa and the African Union as well as the European Parliament and civil society. The comprehensive strategy with Africa is due to be adopted on 4 March and will contribute to pave the way towards the EU-Africa summit at the end of the year.
