7th EU-Africa Business Forum

The7th EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF22), whichwill take place from 14-18 February 2022. Co-organised by the European Commission, the African Union Commission, as well as EU and African business organisations the Forum will increase opportunities for sustainable economic partnerships and investment. The 7th edition of the Forum focuses on building stronger value chains for sustainable growth and decent jobs.

Youth Track

The Youth Track of the Africa-Europe Week brings together young people from Africa, Europe and the diaspora to contribute to the future of the EU-Africa Partnership. The programme includes a series of events prior to the start of the Week (as of 7th February), events during the Youth Day (14th February) and the gathering of Youth Rapporteurs who will bring together the joint outcomes of the Youth Track (15th February). All the sessions will be youth-led and include exchanges with decision-makers to amplify youth voices and foster meaningful participation.

Civil Society and Local Authorities Forums

African and European Civil Society and Local Authorities have prepared two forums on a way forward towards 'Participatory and transparent governance: A people-centred approach' for the African-European partnership. The programme includes joint opening and closing sessions, which will concentrate on the role of CSOs and LAs in the partnership; as well as two dedicated forums that will focus on more specific themes and topics. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and interactive; they will support meaningful exchanges to forge key messages and recommendations on a joint and constructive future for both continents.

Meet the Leaders - Wednesday 16 Feb from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Closing the Africa-Europe Week, the ‘Meet the Leaders’ session will offer a space for open discussion with EU and African decision-makers. After weeks of preparation, young people, civil society, local authorities and the private sector from Africa and Europe will bring key recommendations to the table on the future of the Africa-EU Partnership.

The session will be divided into two discussions:

• ‘Accelerating human development’ (from 13:00 to 14:05 CET) and;
• ‘Accelerating sustainable growth and decent jobs, green and digital transition’ (from 14:20 to 15:50 CET).

Culture Track

During the Africa-Europe Week, the Cultural Track will stimulate intercultural dialogue and exchanges on cultural relations between Africa and Europe. From 14th to 18th February 2022, a variety of cultural activities (workshops, debates, film screenings, concerts etc.) will be an integral part of the Africa-Europe Week and link closely with culture related events under the youth and Civil Society/Local authorities components, as well as the EU-Africa Business Forum with its strong creative industries dimension. The Cultural Track will not only be an opportunity for African and European artists to show their performances and co-productions, but also to debate the cultural dimension of the AU-EU partnership and further develop the future of Africa-Europe cultural relations.

The Africa-Europe Week will close with the concert of MAISHA, a unique Afro-European musical collective that unites 12 talented and acknowledged artists from both continents.
