Bio2Watt plants expansion in South Africa, Mozambique and Uganda

Overview

This flagship project consists in developing the Bio2Watt waste-to-value initiative in South Africa, with planned expansion to Mozambique and Uganda.

Main project activities include:

  • Converting animal and other organic waste into biobased energy through anaerobic digestion
  • Capturing methane emissions to reduce greenhouse gas impact and water pollution
  • Expanding the current plant in South Africa from 4.6 MW to 9.8 MW capacity
  • Supporting green energy access and environmental sustainability in targeted regions
  • Implementing the project with investment from Climate Investor One and Two, co-financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Commission, and other public and private partners

The project aims to promote circular economy solutions, reduce emissions, and provide clean energy to local communities.
