Overview
The objective of the Nachtigal hydropower project is the construction of a hydroelectric dam on the Sanaga river (Cameroon), with a capacity of 420 MW. More specifically, the objective is to meet the growing demand for electricity in Cameroon by serving 30% of the country's needs and provide extra capacity to Chad, while generating energy at a competitive rate via low-carbon solution contributing to green energy transition.
The construction consist in a run-of-river compacted concrete dam (1 455 m, max height of 14 m) with water reservoir of 421 ha, a feed canal 3.3 km long, a hydroelectric power station equipped with seven 60 MW turbines and offices. The power station is equipped with 51 km of 225 kV high voltage lines.
