Overview
The objective of this project is to improve the quality and attractiveness of public transport services in the Dakar region (Senegal). This is achieved by commissioning 14 new feeder public transport lines to the main BRT and TER routes.
The main components of the project include:
- the acquisition of 380 new natural gas buses
- the construction of two storage and maintenance centres in Ouakam and Keur Massar
- the development and rehabilitation of 29 road routes and the creation of 6 new road routes with a total length of approximately 30 km, and the development of 9 intersections to improve the circulation and commercial speed of the new buses as well as passenger comfort
- the creation of approximately 700 bus stops and 13 developed and equipped terminal infrastructures
- the establishment of an operations' and travellers' information assistance system
- the implementation of a ticketing system allowing fare integration with the TER and BRT and the operationalization of a clearing house
- an inclusive support in the formalization, creation of decent jobs, and professionalization of the transport sector
