Energy efficiency of buildings in the Mediterranean region

Overview

PEEB Med is an initiative under the umbrella of the Partnership for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB) that supports seven countries in the Mediterranean region by providing technical project assistance and finance.

The project, launched at COP27 supports 7 Southern Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia) in their transition to low-carbon, energy-efficient and climate-resilient building and construction through technical assistance and concessional loans for large scale building projects (e.g. social housing, schools, health facilities). In particular, it addresses the technical barriers and the costs to the energy efficient construction or renovation of buildings.

The project aims to drive transformational change in the building and construction sector, while also supporting countries in achieving their climate mitigation targets, under their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).
