Expansion of the Gabal Asfar wastewater treatment plant in Egypt

Overview

The flagship project consists in:

  • improving the largest treatment plant in Cairo to increase overall treatment capacity
  • developping a new source of water for standard agriculture and forestry applications (using the treated effluents)
  • increasing the quality of life/health for surrounding and downstream communities (+785,000 inhabitants)
  • contributing to the fight against climate change through the reduction in dependence on fossil fuels to run the plant.This project is co-financed with AFD
