Extension of Rabat Public transport in Morocco

Overview

The Team Europe will mobilise AFD and EIB loans and an European grant to finance the extension of Rabat public transport network through the implementation of a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network to distant suburbs.

Missing infrastructure in transport and digital are two of the three connectivity gaps addressed by the regional Economic Investment Plans (EIP), through which Global Gateway is being implemented in the Enlargement and Neighbourhood countries.

The project will finance the extension of 45 km of the public transport network in the Rabat-Salé-Témara agglomeration operated by the local development company Rabat Région Mobilité (RRM), formerly nown as Société du tramway de Rabat Salé (STRS).

The extension will connect Témara, a poor surburb of Rabat, and a distant university campus named Technopolis.
