Jigawa Solar photovoltaic project in Nigeria

Overview

This flagship project consists in piloting a public-private model for solar energy development in Nigeria to address challenges faced by exclusively private initiatives.

Main project activities include:

  • Constructing a public solar power plant with a capacity of 50 to 100 MW in Gwiwa, Jigawa State
  • Developing supporting infrastructure such as evacuation lines and storage systems
  • Providing institutional and technical assistance to reduce sector risks and attract private investment

The project aims to de-risk solar energy development, catalyze private sector participation, and expand access to renewable energy in Nigeria.
