Overview
This flagship project aims to support the sustainable modernisation and expansion of port infrastructure across Cabo Verde, with a focus on green energy and operational efficiency. Financing will target key ports in the archipelago, Santo Antão, São Vicente, and Sal, with projects including Onshore Power Supply (OPS) systems, installation of solar panels, and LED lighting to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.
A major component includes the rehabilitation and expansion of the CABNAVE shipyard in São Vicente. The contribution will help cover works at ports such as Porto Grande, Porto Novo, Porto da Palmeira, and CABNAVE. Specific investments include a photovoltaic roof at the Mindelo Cruise Terminal, other solar and energy-efficiency installations, implementation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for the ENAPOR port system, and subsequent OPS phases. The project might expand to additional ports, such as Porto do Tarrafal and Porto Sal-Rei, depending on project readiness and strategic benefits. Notably, the Porto Grande expansion and preliminary OPS infrastructure there have already been approved.
