Overview
This flagship project consists in advancing large-scale green hydrogen (H₂), ammonia (NH₃), and hot briquetted iron (HBI) production across Brazil to support green industrial transformation and export to global markets.
Main project activities include:
- Developing GEP Piauí, a green hydrogen and ammonia facility in Parnaíba's special economic zone, with modular units aiming for initial H₂ production by 2029
- Partnering with VALE in Maranhão to enable green steel production in the EU by combining low-cost Brazilian hydrogen with high-grade iron ore
- Establishing GEP Sergipe, a green hydrogen export project replicating Piauí's modular model, with phased rollouts beginning in 2030
- Building green shipping corridors with new terminals at the Ports of Piauí, Sergipe, and Pecém for export of green H₂ and NH₃ to the EU
- Holding exclusive hydrogen terminal rights at the Port of Luís Correia and developing green bunkering and HBI shipment infrastructure at key Brazilian ports
- Partnering with the Port of Rotterdam to develop a green hydrogen and ammonia corridor at the Ceará Pecém complex
The project aims to position Brazil as a global leader in green energy exports, contributing to decarbonization of heavy industries and maritime transport.
