Project Paulo Freire II in Brazil

Overview

The objective of this program is to reduce rural poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition in family farming, with a specific development objective of increasing the sustainability of production systems and the resilience of family farmers. It will be implemented in the 74 municipalities of the semi-arid region of the state of Ceará in Brazil, with the greatest climatic vulnerability.

It includes activities in the areas of: 

  • rural development with a focus on environmental sustainability based on agroecology
  • access to water, sanitation and social technologies
  • knowledge management and cooperation for adaptation to climate change and combating desertification in semi-arid areas
  • knowledge management and South-South and Triangular cooperation
