Rogun Dam hydropower plant construction in Tajikistan

Overview

In line with the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) on Water, Energy and Climate Change in Central Asia, the Rogun Hydropower Project will double Tajikistan’s energy production and expand access to affordable, clean electricity for 10 million people. It will also enable large-scale exports to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, supporting a regional electricity market and the transition to renewables.

Led by the World Bank with support from multiple donors, including the European Commission and the European Investment Bank, Rogun is a key Global Gateway flagship project for Asia and a driver of sustainable growth in Tajikistan.
