Overview
This project consists in the reinforcement of the data infrastructure in Somalia.
First, it consists of the connection of Somalia to the 2Africa submarine cable system with one fibre pair, and four wavelengths of 400 to 600Gbps each on the main trunk of the system connecting to Europe and other African countries. The connection of Somalia to the largest submarine cable system in Africa will significantly enhance the resilience, quality, and capacity of the country’s international connectivity.
Secondly, it consists of the construction of an open access datacentre with capacity of 500 racks. Lastly, a deployment of a fibre optic backbone of around 2,000 km, to interconnect the capital city with regional hubs, including the border with Ethiopia, enabling them to access the country’s new high-quality connection to the internet.
