Overview
The flagship project supports Côte d’Ivoire’s energy transition by rehabilitating and developing renewable electricity generation capacity, while also expanding storage capacity through three complementary technologies: solar power, hydropower and battery storage.
The programme aims to help the country move towards a low-carbon transition by increasing the share of solar and hydroelectricity in the electricity mix and by supporting an appropriate technical and regulatory framework. It also seeks to improve the resilience of the electricity sector to climate change, in a context where nearly 80% of electricity in Côte d’Ivoire is currently produced from gas.
