Water treatment plant in Phnom Penh in Cambodia

Overview

Construction of water treatment plant "Bakheng - phase 3" with Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, providing clean water for the industry and for the urban population, and supporting clean water policy nationwide.

Each of Bakheng-1 (co-financed by the EU) and Bakheng-2 operations delivered a 200 000 m3/d water supply system serving 400 000 additional inhabitants of the Greater Phnom Penh.

Bakheng-3 will deliver a third 200 000 m3/d water system, meeting the water demand in the capital up to 2028. The new water supply system will serve 380 000 additional inhabitants and 10 000 businesses in Phnom Penh.

Bakheng-3 will also impact on the operator by supporting its reorganization and the professionalization of its staff, thus augmenting the sustainability of the water supply to the capital. It will also provide capacity building to provincial water utilities countrywide and pave the way to the reform of the water sector.
