WiFi for Western Balkans (WiFi4WB)

Overview

​The WiFi4WB initiative builds on the experience of the EU's WiFi4EU. It will provide free high-speed Wi-Fi connection to public buildings, urban public spaces and rural areas in up to 500 municipalities in the Western Balkans. This initiative will allow to bring connectivity closer to citizens and allow them to benefit from the endless opportunities of digitalisation. 

The WiFi4WB was put forward as an offer by the European Commission in the framework of Pillar I (Priority Area 6) of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans as a concrete step towards the realisation of the Digital Single Market. 

mplementation started in September 2024. It is foreseen that by the end of 2025, up to 300 municipalities will have installed hotspots in their public spaces. ​
