The EU promotes and protects human rights, democracy and the rule of law worldwide. Human rights and democracy are inextricably connected. Only in a democracy can individuals fully claim and realise their civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights.
Sustainable development and peace and security go hand-in-hand. One is not possible without the other, which is why we fully support our partner countries in their efforts to establish long-term stability.
Programmes
We implement programmes around the world wherever assistance is needed. We tailor our support to fit the region or country being helped. Programmes with a global reach allow the EU to provide similar support to countries facing similar problems.
