Description

The European Instrument for International Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC) is established to support the prevention of nuclear accidents. Activities aim to:

  • promote highest standards of nuclear safety culture and regulatory framework in the world, in line with international and EU norms
  • support safe management of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste
  • support the assurance of nuclear safeguards

Ukraine remains one of the EU’s closest partners in external cooperation in the area of nuclear safety. Since 1991, the EU has delivered over €1 billion worth of financial and technical support to Ukraine. At present, the EU contributesmore than €100 million to support nuclear safety and radioactive waste management in Ukraine.
