Description

This joint report aims to present a concise, factual overview of progress achieved in delivering on commitments made at the 6th European Union (EU) - African Union (AU) Summit on 17-18 February 2022, under the first pillar of the Joint Summit Declaration, ‘A Joint Vision for 2030’: a prosperous and sustainable Africa and Europe. Prosperity and sustainability are at the heart of the partnership between the EU and AU.

The report also takes cognisance of AU Agenda 2063 as Africa’s development blueprint that articulates the aspirations and dreams of African people, encapsulated as "The Africa We Want".

Furthermore, this report takes into consideration the evaluation findings of the first implementation plan of Agenda 2063 that straddled 2014 – 2023, specifically on the high level of convergence with the goals of Agenda 2063 for the African side. It also takes cognisance of the EU and the AU commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda, which is the first internationally agreed, universal agenda to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development.
