In South-East Asia, aligning with the EU-ASEAN priorities to strengthen connectivity between the EU and ASEAN, as well as among ASEAN Member States, the EU has launched the Global Gateway flagship project, 'Rehabilitation of the National Road 2 (NR2)'. This key infrastructure project is pivotal in creating one of the main transport corridors connecting the landlocked Lao People's Democratic Republic with Vietnam and Thailand. The objective is to enhance both regional and domestic trade and to support the development of climate-resilient transport connectivity.
