The European Commission and the International Monetary Fund will host the Tenth African Fiscal Forum on March 10-11, 2022. The virtual forum will discuss wide-ranging fiscal reforms needed to preserve the sustainability of public finances and enhance the resilience of African economies in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as how to address the policy constraints that countries are likely to face in the coming years.
Director-General for International Partnerships at the European Commission, Koen Doens, and IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li will join the opening roundtable dedicated to the “The Political Economy of Fiscal Reforms”.
Participants to the forum include:
- African ministers and policymakers
- bilateral partners and multilateral institutions
- representatives of civil society
The forum provides an opportunity for senior policymakers and officials from finance ministries and revenue authorities in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to discuss the fiscal challenges they face. Participants will be able to share experiences, create networks and learn from their peers, while the EU and IMF will engage in dialogue on fiscal policy issues in the region.
