Description
The business forum will bring together:
- Private Sector: EU businesses in the EU and in the Region, EU and Zimbabwean businesses in Zimbabwe, private sector business support organisations (e.g. chambers of commerce)
- Government Ministries and Agencies, Development Partners: both political and administrative decision makers e.g. Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Trade, ZIDA, ZimTrade; EU MS
- Financial Institutions: European Development Financial Institutions; Zimbabwean Banks
The forum will run for three days structured as follows:
- Day 1: Main conference and sector-specific breakaway sessions + EU companies exhibitions
- Day 2: Sector specific breakaway sessions, Business-to-Business and Business-to-Government meetings and a networking reception with policy-makers, business regulators, sector representatives. The day will also feature an exhibition of EU companies.
- Day 3: Field visits to potential partners and investment locations.
The EU-Zimbabwe Business Forum is designed to:
- Promote EU foreign direct investment in Zimbabwe across key identified sectors, within the framework of the Global Gateway. The EU offers a multi-sector range of financial guarantees to de-risk investments, thus supporting private European investors to explore opportunities in challenging markets particularly in Africa and the EU Neighbourhood
- Diversify and boost trade between Zimbabwe and the EU, and maximise the benefits of the existing EU-Zimbabwe Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)
- Provide a platform for private-public dialogue to further improve the business environment (e.g. regulatory framework)
The target sectors for the Business Forum are horticulture and agro-processing; renewable energy; and mining value chain. Cross-cutting topics include financial services, transport & logistics and technical & vocational training.
