Under the title 'Strengthening the European Union - Latin America and the Caribbean (EU-LAC) partnership for a green and just transition', the Euroclima Annual Meeting 2025 is the key moment to strengthen collaboration between the EU and LAC for a green and just transition.
Hosted by the Government of the Dominican Republic from 10 March to 12 March at Hotel El Embajador in Santo Domingo, this event will bring together experts and changemakers to drive impactful climate action.
This year’s discussions will be aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The agenda will also explore how Euroclima can maximise its impact within the EU-LAC Global Gateway Investment Agenda (GGIA), fostering innovative solutions and strategic partnerships for a greener, more resilient future.

Description
The event will feature inspiring keynote speeches, high-level plenary sessions, expert panel discussions, speed networking, and bilateral and private meetings, fostering meaningful connections and impactful collaborations.
Discussions will include Euroclima's strategic priorities, which are key to unlocking new investment opportunities and accelerating bold climate action across the EU-LAC region:
- Energy transition (including green hydrogen)
- Sustainable mobility
- Biodiversity and ecosystems
- Bioeconomy and sustainable food production (including sargassum)
- Water management
- Circular economy
- Disaster risk management
- Sustainable climate finance
Discussions will assess progress in priority areas, identify opportunities for scaling up successful initiatives, and explore regional-level actions that require coordinated responses.
A regional and multi-country approach is essential for addressing various regional challenges. These include expanding renewable energy networks and interconnectivity, enhancing climate-resilient agriculture, tackling cross-border environmental issues, and turning Sargassum into an economic opportunity. Additionally, this approach allows for the exploration of potential collaborations with long-term regional networks.
The timing of the 2025 Annual Meeting is particularly significant for both the LAC region and the Euroclima programme. Two major international events - the Regional Summit between the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States in Colombia and the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil - will take place at the end of the year and will focus on assessing progress towards a green and just transition, as well as reviewing the Nationally Determined Contributions to set even more ambitious targets for the future.
In this context, the Annual Meeting serves as an excellent platform to define a clear direction for how our efforts in key sectors can be highlighted at these milestone events.
