Description
We will not solve the long-standing global food crisis, now made worse by the war in Ukraine, with the same policy approaches that created it. An estimated 828 million people around the world suffer from hunger – almost a tenth of the global population. In East Africa, 1 person is likely to die of hunger every 36 seconds. While millions of people are struggling to find their next meal, the world’s main food companies and agricultural traders have made record profits, adding billions to their collective wealth.
There is an urgent need to rethink how the world feeds its people, and we need to recognise how unequal the current global food system is. Solutions and resources to end hunger exist.
