Description
Global food markets are facing increased risks and uncertainties, including extreme climate events, conflicts and geopolitical tensions, disruptions to supply chains, economic slowdowns and downturns and sudden changes in policies. It is very critical under these circumstances to enhance market transparency and provide timely and objective information to guide policy decisions and interventions.
During the InfoPoint, FAO will present its latest assessments of world food markets, including forecasts for 2022/23 and implications for global food security, and report on its work on global fertilizer markets. Emphasis will be placed on the impacts of the Ukraine crisis.
The presentation will also include the evolutions and compositions of the global food import bill and agricultural input import bill, based on the latest data and information.
The event will also allow exchange of views on the latest developments in world food markets and discussion on how market transparency could be further improved.
