Description
Nearly one billion women have been completely excluded from the formal financial system. Without even a bank account in their own names, they lack the basic services that most of us take for granted—secure ways to save money, pay bills, and get credit. Exclusion from the formal financial system means they are economic outsiders, unable to benefit from, or contribute to, economic growth.
Women's World Banking President & CEO Mary Ellen Iskenderian will give a presentation that shows why it takes more than microloans to empower women and promote sustainable, inclusive economic growth.
Women’s World Banking will also share why gender lens investing is not only about pursuing gender equality as a social good for its own sake; it is also a strategy for financial outperformance. Investing in women as customers and as workforce and leadership talent leads to stronger institutions, better returns and a more equitable world. Women’s World Banking leverages its investment expertise along with its technical assistance capabilities to showcase the financial and social returns of investing with a gender lens.
In a partnership with DG INTPA, Women’s World Banking is leading the way on gender lens investing through its USD 103 million private equity fund.
