Description
Through the EU-supported project “Enhancing transparency and traceability for more sustainable value chains in the garment and footwear sector”, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), in consultation with industry practitioners and experts, has developed the Sustainability Pledge, a set of actionable recommendations, guidelines, information exchange standards and a Call to Action to drive the transition towards more sustainable and circular consumption and production patterns in global garment and footwear value chains. The initiative establishes a mechanism that enables governments, industry partners, consumers and other stakeholders to make risk-informed decisions and achieve accountability for sustainability claims through traceability and transparency.
At this InfoPoint conference, an esteemed panel of business representatives will take stock of what has been achieved by the project between 2019 and 2024,and how it helped them to build a sustainable and circular garment and footwear industry of the future.
