Today, at the Global Gateway Forum, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, together with Prime Minister Hasina, launched the negotiations on a new Partnership and Cooperation Agreement to expand and develop the relationship between the EU and Bangladesh.

In recognition of the importance of securing supply of critical raw materials and diversification of industrial value chains, during the Global Gateway Forum in Brussels, the EU and Uzbekistan agreed to work on a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sustainable critical raw materials (CRM).

At the Global Gateway Forum in Brussels, Agence Française de Développement (AFD) signed a contract to jointly finance the construction of the Kakono hydropower plant in Tanzania. Through this agreement the EU and the AFD will jointly contribute €146 million, about half of the total cost of €296 m.

The agreement marks the launch of a project – to be implemented by ITC and funded by the EU – to support the Government of Turkmenistan in acceding to the World Trade Organization and in becoming a member of the multilateral trading system.
