Construction of Kakono Hydropower Plant in Tanzania

Overview

The Kakono Hydropower Plant project involves the construction of an 88 MW hydropower plant and associated transmission infrastructure, paving the way for the Tanzania-Uganda interconnector. This will support the regional stability of the grid and promote energy security.

The project will provide clean and reliable energy, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and contribute to regional energy integration, which supports Tanzania's green transition and industrial development.

The project is part of the Africa-Europe Green Energy Initiative.
